Hey all - sorry for the long gap in posts - I guess you could say that the excuse from the phone company is quite a good one. "Sir, it appears an animal got into the exchange, we think a rat and has chewed through quite a few of the wires"
To be fair, BT were exceptionally good about all this - they kept me informed, they explained in detail what the problem was, they were sorry, the engineer called me on my mobile directly - the customer service team were great - all round, I could not fault their service. I just wish the rat had not picked my wires!
Back to WoW:
So, what have you guys been up to then? Well - time appears to have caught up with us and the shattering is happening today in the US and tomorrow here in Europe. Big changes everywhere and all getting ready for Cataclysm!
I love my druid - and am sad at the nerfs that are coming our way - I'm not alone in the nerf class it seems, but it still makes me sad - but hey ho - I've been through the nerf bats before.
What are you all going to be doing now then? Exploring new zones? Re-rolling? I'm going to stick to my trust druid in Cataclysm, but that's not going to stop me exploring a couple of new class combinations! I've always loved Taurens and the fact that they can now be paladins and priests I find very exciting. My wife and I are considering rolling a pair of male Tauren holy paladins just for giggles - a project I will no doubt get bored with quickly but it will give me something to do :-)
Other than that, I've been doing Battlegrounds with my trusty friend and previously twinned tank (we both had nightelf warrior tanks) Angel. Now, Angel is one of those rare people in WoW, a player that is amazing regardless of class. We have been doing random BGs together with me on Mist while he is on his holy paladin.
To say that we can win a BG with just the two of us is understated. His healing ability is legendary and coupled with a ferals damage output and ability to peel and you get a two man army. 56 killing blows in AB with zero deaths? Yes please Angel! - freedom, heals, dispell spam and 20% mastery feral druid - lots and lots of dead players. Fun as hell - I know we are getting big arse nerfs, but I've enjoyed it while my internet connection let me :-)
I've been told that ferals at level 85 on the beta are in a pretty good place right now, so I've got my fingers crossed.
Well, I wish you all great success with the Shattering today and tomorrow and I hope that if you do start a new toon that you have tremendous fun and end up with an MMO that pleases you greatly. Enjoy the last weeks of the Wrath of the Lich King everyone - especially those long term friends of A Distant Land blog /hugs (you know who you are)

Hi Red, welcome back! You've been missed. :)
I am not a long-time reader, unfortunately... but I found your blog several months ago, and I have to say that your PvP videos have been inspirational to watch.
I didn't start with feral PvP until about a year ago, and for a long time I felt stuck - I loved my feral, but I couldn't kill people very well, and I constantly got mowed down by casters. However, over the last couple of months I've really started to come into my own, and that is in no small part due to watching you play.
It's funny how watching someone else, either on a video or in a bg, can remind you about class abilities you may be forgetting - at least that's true in my case. Even before the patch dropped, I found that I was better able to survive AND deal killing blows, and it is gratifying to finally have some confidence in my abilities to just decimate people. It's a great feeling.
Anyway, without making this into a wall of text, I wanted to say thanks for making the videos - they're awesome, and they've also opened my eyes to some necessary adjustments that have made my PvP experience that much more enjoyable.
As far as what I'll be doing now, I'm going to be rolling a new mage and hunter in order to explore some of the new leveling content before the expansion drops and I get to work on leveling the druid. Oh, and I have a resto druid that is 68, so I should finish leveling that toon... And of course, I'll still be PvPing!
i cant wait for the shattering, my druid dinged 80, my paladin dinged 58, and my shaman dinge... wait, its still 80 but who cares, im so exited for cata i just have to choose wich class to start with lol, so many fun classes at 80 now that im confused xD, think im sticking to my paladin for now, then when i get cata, im going for shaman to 85 then pala..
GOOD LUCK Matt!!
May the experience blast you to the top :)
-Narimsa/bluemist(changed to horde draenor) :)
Russ,
awesome post - thanks! I know what you mean about pvp videos - I myself watch every video going - especially if it is a class I struggle to beat. When I found frost mages hard I went and watched every frost mage pvp video I could lay my hands on to see what they were all about - helps a LOT.
Thanks for the compliments and thanks for posting here.
Good news on your leveling, it gets easier as they have reduced the XP needed by 20% up to level 80 to make it less punishing.
Let me know what the hunter ends up like please - mine is parked, but they may grow as a class with this new focus resource thing.
Narimsa - GRATS on 80 dude! And thanks. Nice to see you horde ;-)
Looking forward to see how you get on - as I am all the blog readers, will be nice to hear of peoples new experiences.
/hugs

Na jooking :D
but good stuff with the information from the custmer service wtb that in Denmark :/ xD
Thanks for the good wishes!
RE: Hunters
My new hunter will be my second - I leveled one to 80 between August and October, and I really enjoyed it.
When patch 4.0.1 changed everything from mana to focus, I was unsure of how I felt about it... for about five minutes. I specced Marksman, and after some practice, I really got into a groove with it. Trash/AoE is pretty rotten unless you're Survival and spamming Multi-Shot, but with no Volley, the other specs have a rough time.
However, in MM, I'm really liking the rotation on bosses at level 80. I'm at a good place where my focus is flowing smoothly, and the rotation isn't clunky at all. Focus regen is effected by Haste, which is nice. Check out Warcraft Hunters Union, One Man Raid, or other hunter guides to get some great advice on how to get into the flow with it.
I'm looking forward to taking that toon into Cataclysm, because with the Glyph of Misdirection, any time you MD to your pet it resets the cooldown on MD, so you can basically be MD-ing the entire time - threat should never be an issue while leveling, regardless of spec! :)
Additionally, there will be some sweet new pets available in Cata, including foxes.
Anyway, hope that helps. I definitely recommend dusting off the hunter and giving it a try. I'm having a lot of fun when I play mine! :)
Welcome back dude!
I'm a long term reader but first time poster :).
To reiterate Russ' post I too adore your PvP videos especially the old Warrior and Shammy ones; having played those 2 classes through out the majority of my WoW career I found them rather inspirational.
Good luck with Cataclysm and the Shattering, looking forward to reading about these two holy cows! hehe.
I myself will be reolling a Dwarf Warlock come Wednesday and trying my hand at a caster DPS having played melee for the most part. I recently started my own blog so hoping this reroll project will give me plenty to write about!
Anyway peace and long life
Alex

Alex,
woot! First time poster - welcome :-)
Thanks for the nice comments about the videos - and also good luck with the Shattering for you.
Locks are great fun - my wife's lock can do some INSANE dps.
Let me know the link to your blog when you get started please!
cheers,
Red
ow my... legendary even *blush*
Well thank you kind sir but i make you do all the work ;)
i just keep you mobile and alive so you can find new playthings to toy around with.
Even if that means taking on half their team in 1 go :D
As for cata well Angel is still my main ill fight my way thru nerfs and buffs as always and tank my way thru everything aswell.
Ow as for Aramia ill prolly lvl her for pvp. It's way too much fun when teamed with a friend like you
Angel
As an old Warlock i feel very bad with this patch. According to the patch notes about warlocks well... "damage reduced by 12" and repeat and repeat and repeat over and over again :p BAD! ;]
Hey, I started my blog around 2 weeks ago but the focus is moving onto my Warlock adventures! :)
